Ottawa

Visited El Deano this past week.  It was supposed to be a vacation but I was co-opted as a labourer in a sweat shop.  Unfortunately I forgot to document this with photos so you will have to trust me... There was a lot of digging involved...

But, it wasn't all fun and games.  We also went for a small hike in Gatineau Park off of Meech Lake (that of the accord I guess...); rode bikes around Ottawa: along the canal,

amongst the Sri Lankan protestors on Parliament Hill,

to the Byward Market amongst other places; went to the Museum of Civilization

and the National Art Gallery;

the top of a hill which encloses the water storage for near Dean's house...every single day in the hopes of picking up poop (Annie the dog's).  Didn't take any pictures of the dog...there are thousands of them on Dean's computer...

Didn't take many pictures.  Had fun though!

Sunshine Coast

Jennifer and I had a birthday bash this weekend for the both of us.  It was more her idea and work, but a double birthday celebration nonetheless...
We stayed at a B&B that was right on the Pacific.  It was nice little suite.  The weather was good despite the forecast.

I went down to the shore in front of the B&B the evening we came as it was a low tide and looked around.  There were many sea stars and sea cucumber.  There were little crabs too, but they would skitter away too fast for me to actually see them.

We went for a short hike to look at the Skookumchuk Narrows - a place where the water channel narrows and creates rapids.  The hike took us through a small rain forest area where most of the trees and rocks were covered in thick moss.
We got to the rapids which were impressive.  I didn't take any pictures of the rapids though, there are many good ones on the net if you look.

We went further on the trail from the first viewpoint to the second one.  There were a lot of star fish to be seen there, large clusters of them.  Orange and purple mostly, though there was one type that had a burnt sienna colour (I can’t think of a better word for it!).
